Terms of Service
Effective June 12, 2026
1. What the service is
Safe or Scam? gives your family an email address. When a family member forwards a suspicious email, text message screenshot, photo of a letter, or voicemail recording to that address, we analyze it with AI and reply with a verdict: scam, safe, or unsure, along with a plain-English explanation and a suggested next step. The account owner also receives a weekly digest summarizing the family's activity. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
2. What the service is not
- It is not financial, legal, or professional advice, and it is not a fraud-prevention guarantee.
- It does not block scams from arriving. It evaluates what you choose to forward.
- It is not 100% accurate. It can mark a scam "safe" or a legitimate message "scam." The final decision to act on any message is always yours.
3. Reservations
During our pre-launch period, you may reserve a spot for $1. The reservation is fully refundable at any time before launch: email hello@safeorscam.app and we will refund it, no questions asked. A reservation is not a subscription; no recurring charge begins until we launch and you confirm your plan.
4. Subscription, billing, and the guarantee
- The Family plan costs $19 per month and covers your household: parents, you, and your siblings.
- Billing is handled by Stripe and renews monthly until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime through the billing portal link in any digest email, or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep service through the period you already paid for.
- 30-day money-back guarantee: if you are unhappy for any reason in your first 30 days, email us and we will refund your first month in full.
- If we ever change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before it affects you.
5. Fair use
The service is for your family's personal use. To keep it affordable for everyone, we may apply reasonable volume limits (far above what any household actually sends) and may suspend accounts that use automation, resell access, or send abusive content. If a limit ever affects you, we will tell you rather than silently degrade the service.
6. Your privacy
How we handle forwarded messages and family information is covered in our Privacy Policy, including our 30-day deletion of forwarded content and our commitment to never train AI models on your family's data.
7. Limits on our liability
This is the part our lawyer would write in capital letters, so here it is plainly: to the maximum extent the law allows, Safe or Scam? is not liable for losses that result from acting or not acting on a verdict, including money lost to a scam, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We provide the service "as is." Some states do not allow certain liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Ending or changing the service
You can stop using the service anytime (Section 4). We may suspend or end accounts that violate Section 5. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will give subscribers at least 30 days notice and refund any unused time.
9. Changes to these terms
If we make a meaningful change, we will email the account owner before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.
